| The
Kiwanis Country Kids Club logo was designed by a student at "The Country School"
where Kiwanis Country Kids is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos. The students meet during school hours to
conduct weekly meetings and work on community service projects. The Country School is both a private and a non-public
school serving a maximum of 32 students with learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, or other forms of mild
to moderate disabilities that affect learning and social skills.
The Kiwanis Country Kids Club gives students opportunities to contribute
to their community through their dedication and talents that would not otherwise be possible in a small, private school.

| THE KIWANIS CLUB OF SAN MARCOS IS PROUD TO SUPPORT THESE PROGRAMS: |
| No single organization
can solve the tremendous challenges facing children worldwide. That’s one reason Kiwanis International
has joined in a memorandum of understanding with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to foster, nurture, and
establish a legacy of serving children, a cornerstone mission for both organizations. Kiwanians support the Boys
and Girls Club of San Marcos in a wide variety of ways...providing volunteer hours, raffle prizes for fundraisers and adopting
families during the holidays.
The Boys and Girls Club offers programs in Character and Leadership Development, Education
and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.

| Young Adventurers is a day-trip program of Los Caballeros de Aventura, a 501(c)3 organization. Young Adventurers take day trips on weekends to places that offer enrichment, exercise,
fun, and adventure. Favorites are boating, hiking, flying airplanes--real and model planes--swimming, and exploring places
of interested all over San Diego County. Since 1993 Los Caballeros has been offering Young Adventurers "Enrichment
through Adventure." Los Caballeros de Aventura, Inc. was founded and continues to operate, in great
part, through the efforts of the Kiwanis Clubs of both San Marcos and Hidden Valley.
The founder of Los Caballeros (which loosely means ”Gentlemen of Adventure")
was Lyle Davis of the Kiwanis Club of Hidden Valley Club. The purpose was to divert kids from joining gangs. Many
of the members of that Kiwanis Club became volunteers. Through Lyle's continuing efforts, the Hidden Valley Club
has donated to help support the efforts to recruit children from the Escondido area.
The
Program evolved over the years to attract more girls and to lower the age from 10 to 8 years of age. This was because
children are being approached at an earlier age to participate in gang activities. We have seen that the kids had
so much fun discovering and enjoying life’s adventures that they had neither the time nor inclination to join gangs.
Funding is mainly from memorial
donations to an endowment fund set up through the efforts of John Smylie (Kiwanis Club of San Marcos) and Lyle Davis (Hidden
Valley Kiwanis Club).
Members
of the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos, and other volunteers, act as chaperones and generously use their own cars to provide transportation
on these day trips.
In addition to their regular on-going
support, the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos sponsors two members of Young Adventurers to attend the Kiwanis Key Leadership Camp held each year in Julian. Enjoy a brief video by clicking here.
