The KIWANIS CLUB OF SAN
MARCOS is proud to have been a major sponsor of the San Marcos Sheriff Station's KIDZWATCH ACADEMY since the very first
academy was held in July 2000!
We KNOW
this is one of the most dynamic programs we sponsor and encourage all
parents to enroll their children by contacting the San Marcos Sheriff's Station C.O.P.P.S. Unit (Community Oriented Policing
and Problem Solving) at 760-510-5200 (non-emergency number).
The KIDZWATCH ACADEMY is an exciting program for parents and their children ages 5 - 11 year
old. Each week focuses on a different and vital aspect of keeping our kids safe AND empowering our kids to be safe when
they are not with us. Parents often remark that they have learned as many new things as their children!
The KIDZWATCH Academy is ALSO a wonderful opportunity to children
and their parents to build a positive relationship with the men and women who protect our community and offers a relaxed atmosphere
in which parents and children can ask those "I always wanted to know..." questions.
Through KIDZWATCH children will learn: - How to be more observant of their surroundings, enabling them to become safer individuals
- To identify potentially hazardous situations and dangerous people
- How to use 9-1-1 and report accurate information
- The importance of bicycle and water safety
- How
to handle fire emergencies
- Community involvement
How is KIDZWATCH different? - It
is a hands-on approach to learning.
- Everyone learns together
- the parents are equal partners in the experience and must accompany their children to each session.
- It is a community-based project that emphasizes all aspects of safety awareness.
- IT'S FUN!
The
benefits: - The kids are empowered with the knowledge and
hands-on experience to make safe decisions.
- Parents can become
more secure in knowing that their children are prepared for handling emergencies.
- Boosts self-esteem and confidence for both children and parents.
KIDZWATCH teaches kids to become more community oriented and law enforcement positive! |
