RELAY FOR LIFE SAN MARCOS

Like the rest of the world, our lives have been touched by cancer. Our Kiwanis Club has lost members and members' spouses to cancer and we have supported friends and loved ones as they have battled this vicious disease. So we do what we can to help make a difference in our community by once again raising money for the American Cancer Society to fund cancer research and support for patients and their families.

This year's event will be held at the oval track at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) and our OLD and BOLD and YOUNG and GOLD members will be

AROUND AND AROUND AND AROUND FOR 24 HOURS

But we need YOUR support to reach our goal of $2,400 - YOUR DONATION WILL TRULY MAKE A DIFFERENCE in our efforts. No donation is too small (or too large)! You can choose to make a donation to our team, to an individual on our team, or join our team and add your own fundraising efforts. You can also dedicate a luminaria in memory of a loved one or to honor a survivor or someone who is battling cancer.

THE LIGHT OF HOPE

As the light dims over campsites and team members complete laps, the night is brightened by the glow of lighted bags called luminaria, each of which has a special meaning. Some luminaria celebrate the survivorship of people who have battled cancer and lived to tell the tale. Many commemorate the lives of those who have been lost to this disease. All represent a person who has been profoundly affected by cancer and the family and friends who continue to be touched by that experience.

LIGHT YOUR LUMINARIA

You can honor a cancer survivor by placing his or her name under "In Honor of," or you can remember someone who was lost to cancer by placing the name under "In Memory of." Each individual’s name will appear on a luminaria and each will be lit at the ceremony to shine as a beacon of hope for others. You also have the option to send an e-card to inform family members and friends of your special gift.
